Cheapest ever M400? (2004)
8,900 miles £30,000
2004 Noble M400. One of only 75.
Only 8900 Miles.
Go and Google Noble M400 and see where it takes you. This car is what legends are made of. Your research will tell you that the M400 out performs many other supercars that cost 10 times more than the Noble.
0 to 60 in just over 3 Seconds, 185 MPH and race car handling combined with world class AP Racing brakes. The car has a power to weight ratio of 401 BHP per Metric ton.
I bought this car after it had a bump. It was categorised as a Cat C write off, The damage was purely cosmetic.
It makes no sense that the car was written off for such a low level of damage, Had the car been racing when it sustained the damage it would have been in the pits for no longer than 5 minutes.
I think it has a lot to do with the insurance companies collective lack of knowledge and understanding of low production sports cars.
This car cost 63,000 Pounds when new and is rare in that it was supplied with Aircon, this was not a standard option on the M400.
Since the repair I have had the car tested on one of the UK's most accurate wheel/Chassis alignment machines.
I have in my possession a report that confirms that the car is perfectly set up to the Noble factory settings.
THE CAR IS STRAIGHT WITH DOCUMENTATION TO BACK IT UP.
Ironically it is most likely the straightest Noble in the UK due to the accuracy of the alignment procedure that it has undergone.
The cosmetic damage was mainly on the front clam shell. It was repaired by MRD Sports Cars Ltd, they are specialists in composite body repair and restoration.
Both of the rear wheels where replaced with brand new wheels, one of the rear rims was bent, so as a matter of caution both rear wheels where replaced.
Loads of other work, [not connected to the accident damage], was also carried out.
Including, All front end Top and bottom ball joints renewed, The Alloy top ball joint plinths where also replaced as Noble improved the design of these items, hence, we went for the newly designed plinths.
Nobles are heavy on Ball joints due to the forces they endure when cornering at very high speeds.
Not an expensive job as the parts work out at about 10 Pounds per ball joint. The track road ends where also replaced.
The Anti Roll bar and associated bracketary has been sand blasted and enamelled. Looks better than brand new.
We also ran an extra cooling duct from one of the air intakes at the front of the car into the centre transmission tunnel. This modification assists in cooling the Handbrake assembly/lever, gear stick and the rear facing Turbo.
The box section chassis sections, [Wow, try saying that after a few pints!], at the front of the car where subjected to a bare metal repaint, I recommend this for any Noble as they are a race car on the road and do not have the same corrosion resistance as seen on production road cars. Sections of the chassis where also clad in rubber strips to prevent hoses rubbing the new paint off to prevent future corrosion. The chassis was also treated with, Waxoyl, for further insurance.
This work required the removal of Hundreds of mild steel self tapping screws from the alloy chassis plates that line the entire underside of the car. The mild steel screws where replaced with Stainless Steel screws and washers.
The car has also had a full service including 8.5 litres of the finest Mobil 1 oil.
My car also benefits from having brand new Toyo Proxes R888 Tyres fitted. They have done less than 200 miles. Just scrubbed in nicely!
The car drives great, no manifold leaks or any other issues to report.
I recently drove the car at a track day at Aintree. There where over 80 cars attending the track day. The Noble was the quickest car on the day and by a considerable margin. Other cars present included GT2 and GT3 Porsches, one with a reputed 585 BHP. No problem for the Noble!
It was the best day that I have ever had at a race track. That includes days that I have spent winning amateur Superbike races.
If the fact that I have done a track day in the Noble puts you off? Then I would say that you don't understand what these cars are all about. It is what they have been built for. If you want to just show off in your supercar? Then go and buy a Ferrari or a Porsche. If instead you want to buy a racing car that also makes for a great road car, then buy an M400. I see this car as a latter day GT40, but quicker!
If I could afford to keep this car I would. It is quite simply the greatest car that I have ever driven – Fact. It also looks a Million Dollars, I have never in my whole life been so attractive to the opposite sex! It took 46 years of my life and a Noble M400 to get their !!!
Business commitments and 2 Ducati Racing Superbikes dictate that something has got to give. Unfortunately for me it's the Noble.
I understand that it is a risky business buying supercars, especially those that are listed on damaged car registers. However, this car sustained such a low level of damage and has been repaired by a specialist repairer. It has also been repaired and improved with no cost restriction. I am not being corny if I stated that it has been lovingly prepared. Infact that is precisely the case.
I have seen these cars make in excess of 40,000 Pounds for the same year model, mileage and specification. Hence the opportunity here for a genuine bargain.
I would consider a vehicle in part exchange if it makes it possible for you to buy my car. However it would need to be priced at a level that makes it worthwhile for me to take on the hassle and expense of selling your car. Hence I would prefer a cash deal.
All inspections are welcome, however and recommended.
