Dit is de Knickerbrook-chicane op Oulton Park, dus met een beetje googlen vond ik het verhaal achter de beelden:

Je zult 't maar meemaken...The weather started promisingly enough: it was hot and humid, and although the circuit was damp, it was drying so quickly it was steaming. As the cars sat in the assembly area, the outlook seemed fairly settled and the sudden deluge of twenty minutes beforehand might be all the rain the rather sparse crowd would see. But looking up, there were all states of sky from bright blue to dark black - so it was always going to be something of a lottery.
The GTO cars all took the start on slicks – to the surprise of some - and so it was fairly cautious stuff in the main.

On only lap six the heavens opened at Knickerbrook. Tim Mullen describes what happened next: "It was almost dry at Shell hairpin, but I could see the rain ahead. I was fighting with the Watkins Viper and as we came out of the chicane and got to Hilltop it was raining hard, like I’ve never seen before. We were both taking it easy but with so much water and slick tyres I felt the car rise up on the water and everything was then out of my hands. I must have gone sideways down the track for about 300 metres…
