http://www.planet-9.com/981-cayman-boxs ... ven-2.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The body parts are not the reason i bought this car in the first place (but it will look better if you keep looking at it for a while, especially after you bought it ) . But once you drove it, you will love it The performance of this 3800s is so good comparing with my 997 GT3 Mk2 it's much smaller and easier to drive. Plus the Engines sound is superb. I haven't had a chance to drive this car much since i bought it, just a couple laps at the dealer. But i will once i get back home next week. Can't wait to go back and drive this little monster.
Nice pics! But how does it DRIVE?
Maybe, I can answer this since popnithi was generous enough to let me drive his beautiful new car and I have a 981CS. Hopefully popnithi can give us some difference between this and his 997 gt3 g2.
The first thing I must say is that the pictures doesn't do it justice. The pics are nice but the real car is SUPER nice. We went driving on the highway with a few other cars too and seeing it in motion made my mouth water.... The rear bumber is just perfect. Looks a bit like 991 turbo bumper.
The drive: it drives just like a 981cs but lower. Due to more power, I do feel that the wheels can just handle the power without losing traction. The shifts in high rpms in from 3 to 4 gears are just more brutal than the 981cs. My 981cs gives head jerking shift from 1 to 2 but less so on 2 to 3 and none from 3 to 4. This one still does from 3 to 4. What is the biggest mystery to me is that although I do feel that car has more power. It doesn't feel that much faster to the 981cs. I would think that the 95hp and the 59 ftlb difference would be much stronger. Maybe it's because there were two people in the car when I am more used to driving by myself. <hint hint>
Ah the sound. My car is basically stock but with the ipd set up and no pse. The 3800s is not that much louder than my car with pse off inside but outside you can tell the difference. My friends and I can hear it in the coffee shop where we didn't hear the 991s. There is low aggressive exhaust noise but when you are in sport plus and press pse it turns into a beast. There are considerable back pressure noise after you release the pedel after hard accel. I thought that was pretty cool. One thing I must say is that the car have some drone noise but it doesn't have it if you don't press the pse button. Our friend car has an akrapovic exhaust this sounds nothing like that. Akrapovic is more high pitch ruf is more low pitch. I think both sound wonderful in it own rights.
The difference in pdk shift; Ruf has a rdk shifting system. You can not go to 7th manually in rdk in sport or sport+ but you can in pdk. Not sure if the gear changing speed is changed like on the gt3 pdk too or not. I thought this point was interesting because I always get annoyed in normal sport mode the car would shift into 7th for me.
That's all my impression. The car is simply stunning and leave other cayman looking very stock. Congratulation on your purchase again krub. Now, I'm just waiting for my FVD headers and exhaust to clear customs and hope (not wait) for the ECU flash get my meager HP/tq increase.
Porsche Cayman GT4 spied sans camouflage
http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/fu ... d-no-camo/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The spy photographer who caught these shots of the undressed Cayman GT4 on a German highway points out the upgrades visible on the mid-engine screamer: Lowered ride height, huge cross-drilled brakes, unique wheels, and that signature elbow-height wing out back. Note also the sliver of an airscoop just ahead of the front trunk opening, a signature GT3 detail appended to the GT4.
4.) How much does it cost? We charge $27.5K for the engine, 50 hours labor at $5,000 and there is a core value of $8900 on your existing 2.7L engine and $5900 on your existing 3.4L engine. The net cost of your new 3.8L 991 reman engine from Porsche is $17.5K.

1.) How long does the swap take? We try and do the conversion in 30 days or less.
2.) What happens to my bumper-to-bumper Porsche warranty? Everything is as-is, except your engine now has a 2 year manufacturer's warranty through Porsche Cars North America.
3.) Can my car pass smog in California? Yes. New cars are not required to be smogged until year 6; after that it's every two years but they have something called the Referee Program which is for conversion cars with engines as new or newer than their chassis AND with the same displacement or bigger.

5.) Will my car look, sound and perform like a 991 3.8L with no Check Engine Lights? Yes, yes, yes and yes.
6.) Why should I buy this thing when I can have the mythical GT4 Unicorn? A.) Our customers do not want to wait. B.) Our customers like 981s with guaranteed 6-speed manual transmissions and powerplants that are offered now. C.) We see no speak of a GT4 Boxster. D.) You are a BGB enthusiast and you would rather spend funds with the people that love the Cayman/Boxster platform as much as you do, if not more! E.) GT4 cost unknown!
7.) If I bought a new 981 for $62.5K and installed exhaust headers, IPD intake and 991 electronics upgrades, how much would I have in it? $90K for a 3.8L 991 with near 400hp before the power upgrades, $95K for a 415hp 981 AFTER power upgrades and about $98K to be outfitted with 991 6-Piston calipers, 340mm discs and pads.
8.) If i purchased the above donor car as a used 981 with low mileage for $53K, could i really create this car for $89K? YES!!! Ask Lee Hower. He has $88K in his car having found a yellow used 981 for $52K. He has enormous yellow calipers and his car makes the power advertised above in the photo.
Thank you all!
