Zo zie je maar weer dat het allemaal een kwestie van smaak is. Ik vind het wel een mooi circuit, maar ik vind Zandvoort ook geweldig. Als je de Tarzanbocht uitkomt is het stuk tot en met het Scheivlak anderhalve kilometer pure porno. Alleen is alles er omheen aftandse ouwe troep.

Dit is 'n deel van wat 'n stel Aussies er van vinden.

This is the genius of the 3 Series. It flatters the absolute beginner and enables the enthusiast. Throttle, brakes, steering - all are just ... well, just so. We loved the old sixes, we love manuals but we wouldn't swap this drivetrain. Capably amiable in milder modes, a weapon when the wick is lit, it comes close to being all things to all people.

With uber-direct steering - some 2.2 turns lock to lock - through front wheels unburdened by the task of driving, this remains a completely intuitive handler, incredibly adept when pushing hard through a mountain pass and hugely adjustable and forgiving of even ham-fisted corrections.

All torque kicks in from just above 1000rpm and it revs cleanly to 7000. It is a device that's thoroughly efficient grinding through the suburbs and wonderfully satisfying when the opportunity arises. In sport mode throttle response is enlivened and feel through the wheel tautens, yet comfort mode is more than adequate for 90 per of likely regular going. Ride on Catalonia's smooth rides was excellent even with optional skinny 19-inch rubber - you'd stick to 17s on our battered bitumen.

Indeed you needn't gild this lily with bling and extras. The 328's brilliance is in its driving essence.

VERDICT

God, it's good. If driving a prestige car means half as much to you as owning one, then you have to try this.

Catalunya lijkt mij ook prachtig, als je eens in de buurt bent en er is een trackday, wat poen op tafel gooien bij een verhuurder of rijdend team oid.

Werk km's doe ik dus in een F10, privé met de e90 en moet zeggen dat ik een 3 serie voor het gezin toch wel krap begin te vinden.
F10 vind ik zo'n mooie mix tussen sportief en comfort hebben.

IK vind 'n F10 verrekte goed in mekaar steken en mooi gemaakt/ doordacht qua eigenlijk alles(interieur /IDrive etc) . Prachtig model. En stil,ruim, comfortabel. Op afstanden en snelwegen super, logisch.

Maar echt (BMW) sportief? JA. Met die DTC/traction uit wil ie wel scheef even ja. Maar voor de rest is ie mij echt te lomp.(voor 'n BMW) en zie 'm als 'n mini(nou ja!) 7 en niet als 'n maxi 3.

M'n gezinnetje weet hoe 'groot' 'n E90 is /was. Dus.

Maar ik snap je wel.

200kg minimaal minder en 'n handbak en iets meer DF op 'n manier waar we DF mee bedoelen.

En Ferdi, je hebt het al gezegd , blablabla droomauto vs truttenfamilie auto blabla dus 't is wel duidelijk nu.

Las 'm gisteren al. Maar dat horen we al sinds de E90 320Si vs de E90 330i natuurlijk.Of nog eerder. Het Klopt ook.

Hoe zwaar is 'n 1M op de neus?

Even bigger are the changes underneath. For now, US customers have a choice between two petrol engines: For one there’s the well-known N55 twin-scroll turbo 300hp inline 6 in the 335i. It’s been carried over from the E90 and there’s really not much left to say about this great engine. BMW apparently agreed and didn’t even bring the 335i for the first test drives. However, one of the head engineers, Dr. Haenle, mentioned that BMW sees more potential for the 335i, so they might offer a BMW Performance upgrade for the N55 engine. We should know more when BMW announces the F30 Performance parts in late 2012.

And then there’s a model which sounds familiar by its name only - the 328i. BMW replaced the naturally aspirated N52 inline 6 with an all-new 2.0l twin-scroll turbo inline 4, internally dubbed N20. And it’s a FABULOUS replacement! Compared to the N52 it replaces, power increases by 10hp to 240hp. Even more impressive are the torque figures. Not only does the new engine produce 60lb-ft more torque with its 260lb-ft, it does so all the way from 1,250 rpm to 4,800 rpm. Coupled with the fairly light F30 3 series, it’s an amazing match. The engine revs smoothly and strongly right away. I was driving around tapping on and off the throttle for quite some time to find a hint of a turbo lag, but I couldn't detect any.

There are only two reasons why you wouldn’t like this new 328i engine: You either need (read: want) more than 240hp or you have to have the sound of an inline 6.Those are honestly the only drawbacks. This engine does sound good, especially for an inline 4, but of course not as good as an inline 6. It’s fairly muted at first and gets noticeable at higher RPMs only.

Wat ik even niet begrijp is dat de 4pits N20 de N52 vervangt die in dit verhaal maar 230pk had?
Mijn ex 330i had toch 260pk ofzo? Of was dat niet de N52?

Toch lijkt zo'n 328i (245 pk) me niet heel aantrekkelijk als je nu een 330i (258 of 272 pk) hebt. Ik ben benieuwd of daar nog iets tussen komt. Bij de 5 kun je kiezen uit de 528i, 530i en 535i.

Juist wel, kan je het verhaal van Reind niet herinneren? Die had de 28i gereden in een X1, mega koppelbeul, daarna met een 330i onderweg dat was maar een dood hok vergeleken bij de turbokoppelkromme!

Juist wel, kan je het verhaal van Reind niet herinneren? Die had de 28i gereden in een X1, mega koppelbeul, daarna met een 330i onderweg dat was maar een dood hok vergeleken bij de turbokoppelkromme!

Ik heb ook met die X1 gereden, maar ik dankte de hemel toen ik weer in de 330i zat. Ik werd ook helemaal tureluurs van dat geschakel van die achttraps automaat.

Tot op zekere hoogte. Een 330i is nog te overzien, maar Patricia Paay is me een paar bruggen te ver.

Die Modern-Line is IMO ook de minst geslaagde 'Line'; ziet er echt te amerikaans uit zo...

...Sport-Line ook licht m'n twijfels over. Het rode biesje dat terug komt in de tellers en op het dashboard is ook wat gezocht.

M-sport uitvoering boeit me nog het meest; al is het M-sport stuurwiel niet echt mijn smaak.

Het houtmotief rondom de middenconsole is wel erg fout.
Maar Frans Bauer zal zich er prima in thuisvoelen !
