Lost Theory
Ok let’s start simple! If Lost could EVER be simple. First-
Lets answer some things from this season’s first episode. It begins showing you the plane in 2004 and yes there are changes (but for right now that’s not important). And then even though we see that they were successful in igniting that bomb and returning to the moment before the plane crashes- we switch to seeing everyone who was on the island when they ignited the bomb STILL on the island! BUT the year- and this is important is NOT 2004 but 2007. So here is where I start theorizing- even though they were successful in ChOOSING to leave the island and keep the plane from crashing. It doesn’t matter- somehow in the three years from 2004 to 2007 they will end up on the island. Because they were MEANT to be on the island because they were chosen.
Chosen by who? Now here is where I get really weird and no judging! Lost is a really weird show!
Even though we just met Jacob last season- he and now who appears to be “John Locke” (even though we know it is not him) these two are the key to the mystery that is lost.
Now if you are as big of a Lost geek as I am- I am sure you have heard theories involving purgatory- this will most definitely not be one of them! Although there are definitely biblical ideas at the center of Lost.
Now here is what I think is going on- Of course in the bible God defeated Satan by sending Jesus to be crucified for our sins. And then Jesus rose from the dead kicking Satan in the backside. So Satan lost- big time. And it is over- Jesus can not be crucified again- history has already happened- nothing can be done to change the story of Jesus…in this world…
So Satan who is not powerful enough to defeat God in the world that God created- maybe is strong enough to create a parallel universe in which he can control more than he otherwise could. Because what does Satan want? He wants to defeat God. So he is attempting to give himself another chance. Whoever is using John Lockes body (and I will get to that in a second) was quoted saying that he “wants to go home” A message perhaps from Satan- who was thrown out of heaven- which could be construed as his home at one point.
There is a story in the bible about Jacob and Esau. Even in the womb they were fighting. And Jacob was holding onto Esau’s heel as they were born. The name Jacob literally means to hold onto a heel. And notice that “Jacob” in Lost has lived under the heel of that statue. Now Esau sold his birthright for a bowl of soup- and in the bible God says that he loved Jacob but Esau he hated. He was considered an ungodly man and even though both sons went on to become the leader of nations. God changed Jacob’s name to Israel, and he became the father of the 12 tribes of Israel. Esau’s descendants were the Edomites (Genesis 36). Edom was a nation that plagued Israel in later years and was finally judged by God.
Both Old and New Testaments use the story of Jacob and Esau to illustrate God’s calling and election. God chose the younger Jacob to carry on the Abrahamic Covenant, while Esau was providentially excluded from the Messianic line.
Ok now back to Lost- sorry but that story was important because I believe that “john locke” is Esau and Jacob is…well Jacob. I believe that Satan created an alternate universe to defeat God. And for some reason everyone on flight oceanic 815 is a part of his plan. I don’t know how exactly- yet I’m working on it.
So Satan somehow has enough power to create and alternate universe- bring Jacob and Esau there- who are natural born enemies. Jacob who listens to God and Esau who we assume is guided by Satan. Now Esau led Ben to murder Jacob- perhaps an attempt to stop the messianic line. To stop the prophecy from being able to come true.
Now even though Satan is attempting something here- that does not mean that God will stand by-he knows all. Therefore that is why Jacob visited key passengers of oceanic flight during troublesome times in their lives.
Why were these people chosen? I think because the main characters (the ones who are still alive) are at a classic point in their lives where they had to make a choice. Their lives were in turmoil they were vulnerable- the perfect time for Satan to intervene.
Now if you remember from earlier seasons many were killed by the smoke monster- which now we know to be Esau- who is being led by Satan. And I believe once people are no longer of use to him he kills them. Or if he deems them too great a threat to whatever it is he is trying to accomplish- ex. Mr Echo (the man who had scripture written on a stick) he kills them as well.
Now every person who had died on the island- and has been seen even though dead- I believe their bodies were used as vessels for Satan or even now Jacob or God. Jacks father for example- I believe his body was taken by Satan- at least whenever we saw him on the Island. Also we have this weird thing with Claire- who after she had gone missing we saw her with “Jack’s father” in that cabin. It was very creepy.
And if you remember Claire went to a palm reader or psychic- while she was pregnant and the psychic got very upset and said that evil surrounds the baby. Also in the first few episodes of Lost Claire is concerned because she does not feel the baby move anymore- leading you to believe that the baby may have died- but then all of a sudden she starts to feel the baby move again. This is echoed later- in the scenario where the plan does not crash. When Kate is in the hospital with Claire and all of a sudden the baby’s heartbeat goes flat. Then ETHAN who was at the hospital touches Claire’s stomach and finds the heartbeat again… I don’t know but I think that Claire’s baby did die. And possibly Satan is trying to bring his own son into the world- this would make the psychics babbling make sense.
So anyway basically the key points are-
Satan creates an alternate universe- to fulfill his goal of “going home” and in order to go home he must defeat God. The passengers of Flight Oceanic 815 play an important role in his plan- at least those who are still alive- and then they are/or will be killed by the smoke monster after fulfilling their purpose.
As for an ending I think that God has to win- I haven’t thought of exactly how it will end but this is my best guess for what is currently going on- on the island.
I think this because you cannot argue the fact that there are biblical ideas in the show ---and purgatory does not make sense anymore- now that they were successful in keeping the plane from crashing in 2004.
And I think that no matter what-- Satan can not affect a person’s ability to make a choice. Because God created us with free choice. (Free choice has always been a theme- Ben often manipulated people by saying I did not make you do anything- you CHOSE to do that) That is why they were able to choose to leave the island by igniting the bomb- but even though they made that choice- other choices are going to lead them right back to the island in 2007. And quite literally the battle between good and evil will close out the show.
Hey I have had this theory about MIB and Jacob for some seasons now - please tell me what you think:
According to Islamic tradition, a sailor gets lost in awful weather and finds himself on a strange island. On the beach he comes across a big black hairy beast-like creature that points him in the direction of a man, chained on the island. The man in chains asks the sailor whether certain events have come to pass - when he is informed that they haven't he tells the sailor it is not his time to leave yet. The sailor eventually returns to the Holy Prophet of Islam (peace be upon him) and recounts the story - the Prophet (pbuh) informs him and those around that that person was indeed the Dajjal or the Anti-Christ.
So I am intrigued that Locke is in the hotseat in the Last Supper shot. I reckon Locke is a Dajjal-like Anti-Christ person imprisoned on the island, and that Jacob is his guardian, given almost angel-like status, with the ability to travel in space-time as he pleases. However, because Dajjal is cunning, he usually finds a way to kill the guardian, but each time the guardian finds a suitable "candidate" to replace him. The Black Rock and Flights 815 and 316 are just like the sailor 1400 yrs ago, bringing groomed candidates.
Eventually Dajjal will get out and wreack havock on earth. According to Islamic tradition, he will be given the power to bring the dead to life again. So my theory continues that the sideways timeline is one which plays out to Locke getting his way and promising each of the people that he will make things better for them and resurrect Flight 815. I reckon the final battle will not take place on the island but in the sideways timeline where Jack will somehow capture Locke again and return him to the island, where they will have to stay for a much longer time. This sort of makes sense as Jack and Locke have been the main protagonists since the beginning, and seem to have evolved into MIB and Jacob over time.
So guys what do you think - crazy or substantial theory?
het is wel denk ik duidelijk dat het een religieus eind wordt...
