will be available as an optional extra in BMW’s production models straight
from the factory in the course of 2008. The version presented at the
2008 Geneva Motor Show is a prototype very close to series production.

Ik weet niet of het ook retrofittable is, ik denk van niet. Bij de Performance Parts stond het er specifiek bij, hierbij heb ik dat niet zien staan.
BMW heeft echter een persmap geschreven van 150 pagina's of zo, ik moet je eerlijk zeggen dat ik dat niet allemaal heb doorgespit.

Op zich niet extreem bijzonder maar integratie met iDrive is natuurlijk wel wat anders dan met een vergrootglas boven het kabouterschermpje van je telefoon hangen.
Niet bijzonder is wel relatief, want ze zijn de eerste fabrikant die dit doet.

En internet optie ZAL ook wel weer eerder duizend dan honderd euro meerprijs zijn..

Feitelijk onbegrijpelijk dat het gewoon gevreten word door de kopers..


Sta je te patsen tegenover de buurman met je navi/blue thoot, TV in de auto en ook internet.. zwaait ie terug met een nokia internet tablet van 300 euro.. Maar jij hebt teminste een dikke premiumbak

Ergo gebruik auto's waarvoor ze zijn gemaakt en dat is autorijden. Internet kun je wel op 80 manieren op waarvan in de auto op deze manier wel heel omslachtig is zonder fatsoenlijk toetsenbord.

En mijn I touch met wifi heeft echt wel duidelijk en leesbaar internet.. en met opera mini op mijn N73 heb ik ook geen probleem.. vraag me af wat meer turen is.. op mijn mobiel of op een navscherm een halve meter bij je vandaan. ik gok het laatste..

Als ze dan ook nog even regelen dat Google Maps in de navigatie geïntegreerd wordt, wordt het misschien toch nog wel een soort van praktisch.

@ Rico: je hebt helemaal gelijk, maar ergens is het toch wel leuk. Internet en tv hoef ik ook niet hoor, maar navigatie bijvoorbeeld, veel duurder van BMW dan van TomTom maar toch leuk. Zelfde met iPod-interface: je kunt prima die iPod bedienen, maar het is gewoon leuker en makkelijker als dat via de iDrive gaat.

Internet op de i-drive wordt natuurlijk behelpen. Echter....als ik een groot aantal vaste webpagina's kan opslaan, kan het voor mijn beroep wel weer van pas komen. Ik denk dan aan aankomst/vertrektijden schiphol, flitsservice.nl, beurzen. Kan nu natuurlijk ook met de pda oid....maar het liefst heb ik een zo'n klein mogelijk mobieltje op zak...en is de rest geïntegreerd.

Het liefst heb ik overal toegang tot internet (en dus bijna alle informatie voorhanden). Dus ook gewoon in de auto (al heb ik het al op m'n mobiel)

Ik snap 't niet hoor. Er wordt vanalles in een auto gebouwd voor de veiligheid. En dan gaan ze zulke dingen integreren.
Heb ook nooit begrepen dat dvd-spelers in een auto toe word gestaan. Tuurlijk, voor de kids is het ideaal. Maar er zitten ook schermpjes voor in de auto. Leidt toch gigantisch af?
En natuurlijk, 'maar u moet het ook niet gebruiken tijdens het rijden'. Yeah, right, het wordt niet gebruikt tijdens het rijden. Eigenlijk zouden ze het zo moeten maken, als ze het echt veilig willen hebben dat bepaalde functies niet meer mogelijk zijn als je begint te rijden.

Internet bekijk ik thuis, op een normaal 19 inch scherm. Hoef ik niet op een telefoon of een te klein scherm in de auto....

Dus? Om die reden kun je er wel meer uitslopen zoals een dikke motor (>120km/u mag je toch niet), navigatie, boordcomputer, allemaal dingen die afleiden... het is uiteindelijk aan de bestuurder om zich goed te gedragen in het verkeer.
Alles verbieden vind ik onzin, laat men zelf inzien wat wanneer wel/niet gevaarlijk is.
