Conjecture and speculation is running rampant around WCF on the news that BMW will introduce a new concept derived from the 1-series at the 40th Tokyo Motor Show. According to Automotive News, BMW plans to show off the new car during their 11:30 a.m. press conference in Tokyo on October 24.
Our first thought was that BMW would show off a design for the X1 SUV crossover. That guess was ruled out by the last line of the article:
"But a BMW spokesperson denied it would be the X1 small SUV."
A convertible based on the 1-series is a distinct possibility. So too is a 1-series hot hatch.
Odds are some more details will come out in the next ten days

The test drives 135i are happening this week .
The Tokyo Concept Car is a : "1ntensified performance orientation" Concept based on the 1er.
Next week is also the Asian launch for the BMW 1er Coupe so there are special 1ntensity events planned to introduce the BMW 1er Coupe in Tokyo.
Remember the US market is taking a different approach to their marketing of the BMW 1er Coupe so you will not see these 1ntensity events.

In a totally seperate conversation from this topic.
In one corner you have the M1 - A BMW supercar from the 1970's a product of the angular era of design . And with it years of tradition and history in it's achievements . People claim that BMW do not wish to seperate the badge from it's iconic status to something relevant today.
So where you cannot have an M1 you can have a 1-M. Just as there is a Z4-M.
