Ricky Hatton and Floyd Mayweather continued their verbal sparring on the final leg of a tour to promote their welterweight title fight on 8 December.

Mayweather taunted Manchester City fan Hatton by wearing the shirt of rivals United, while Hatton fought back with a mixture of insults and expletives.


"Because of the way he acts he has about 10 or 20 people following him, while I have 20,000," said Hatton.

Mayweather said: "I respect him as a man, but not his boxing skills."

The pair, who meet at the Las Vegas MGM Grand for their world title bout, are hoping to end each others unbeaten run and earn the right to be deemed as the best pound-for-pound fighter.


"After the fight, if Hatton performs well enough, then I'll tell him that I respect him," added the 30-year-old American at their latest head-to-head in Manchester.

The pair have already visited Los Angeles, New York, Mayweather's native Grand Rapids and London to promote their bout.


"At the moment he's nervous and he's worried. He's seen all my fights on video and always flies to America to see me box. I've never come to see him fight," said Mayweather, unbeaten in 38 contests.

He added: "Ricky can't be dragging that beer. There are only three months to go before the fight and his waist has not shrunk yet. I always keep myself in good condition."

Hatton, 28, said: "It takes a lot to ruffle my feathers and get under my skin.


"He tried to intimidate me this week but now he'll be going back to States to tell people that I'm not scared of him.

"I've stood next to him and seen his frame. I think he puts on an act which sees him surrounded by lots of minders and throw money around. I think he needs reassurance."

The Manchester fighter, unbeaten in 43 fights, added: "The challenge against Kostya Tszyu was massive, the fight against Jose Luis Castillo was bigger, but this will be even bigger."

Hatton's fans have only been allocated 3,900 of the 17,000 tickets available, with 30,000 requests having already been made for those on sale.

However, the Briton is adamant his supporters will make themselves heard at the MGM Grand.


"You can't ignore the noise," he said. "They are loud, they are passionate and that matters. Even if it's only to encourage me, it matters."
