OK, you would have to have a background in things Automotive to know what you're looking at. For the record, this is a front disc brake assembly. You would never be able to see these individual lines as they are covered by a 1/4" disc on cast iron. It is all CAST as one piece. That cast iron disc is what the brake caliper squeezes when you apply your brakes. In the case above, the "disc" has been WORN away by the loss of caliper brake pads. Probably over a two or three year period of time (that they have been WORN OFF). The owner brought the car in for an oil change & asked the mechanic to check out "a little noise that seems to come from the front" How anyone could drive a vehicle like this and not be aware of the loss of braking is beyond me! I have NEVER seen anything like this.
