rico hij niet zijn team genoot.

Wij hebben met die kastjes gereden en ook pieter. Wij zitten precies op onze kg - pk verhouding. Ook hebben wij gerold en de auto was perfect.

Anders hadden we toch den DQ achter onze naam gehad.

Bert ///M3 schreef:I don't think that power to weight is the whole story when it comes to acceleration, the number in the equation is only peak power but doesn't take into account the torque curve, gearbox ratio's or aerodynamic drag of the car. The ones running the heavier car with the bigger engines are likely to have an overall advantage in acceleration at the cost of cornering speed.
Indeed, if you have the same bhp/kg ratio but your car is heavier, you'll have more bhp and will make you quicker on higher speeds than a car with less bhp (same drag assumed).

Great to have another race driver on this forum.

Good tires is the most important thing in racing, just look at the Formula 1 battle of Michelin and Bridgestone. So Rick Pearson has a good point that the teams with a good tire budget and fresh tires each race (or even each stint) have an advantage over the others without that kind of budget.

The Primera showed its performance at a dry Spa in the beginning of this year with a 2.33 on new tires. The competition (JR Motorsport BMW V8 GTR and the BMW M3 WTCC) completed the top 3 with a 2.38. That's a difference of 5 seconds!

Again on Spa this month, the Primera on old tires drove a 2.36, with Andre de Vries hotlapping a 2.35 and the others mentioned above (the other two BMW's) a 2.37.

So if you look at these times with the same cars during the season, the engine power isn't the main issue (the Primera still has the best time on the circuit with the longest straight and fastest corners), but the tire budget clearly is.

So start robbing those banks ;)

That's a good point :)

I would have expected the GTR's to have a bigger advantage on Spa going uphill in the eau rouge.

I thought a slick tire could only manage 6 heatcycles before the compound starts hardening out or so?

3e rondje kan je het meeste uit een nieuwe slick halen dan kakt ie steeds verder in.

You can do a race on old slick tires, but you need to push much harder during the warmup lap to get some heat into the rubber. That's due to the hardened compound (as Bert mentioned). And you will never have the cutting edge of new slicks.
