Got a phone call from my Audi dealer.
He was also just back from a dealer visit to Germany where he drove a red 2.0TFSI on standard 7-spoke alloys and condor grey 3.2V6 on turbines on road, autobahn and track. His abbreviated thoughts:-
They drove SLKs and Z4s and both came nowhere near how good the V6 (and 2.0) were to drive. TT was much more stable at high speeds and in the twisties and through hi-speed cone tests. This car had the magnetic damping which he thought was excellent but only really for committed and track drivers. On comfort mode it was similar to springs. He thought the car had outstanding build quality - up there with the A8. He also thinks it's the best car Audi sell! I forgot to question him about the RS4/6!
They had about 50 TTs/SLK and Z4s and all the dealers were raving about the condor grey, especially in the scorsching sunlight. He reckons there will be a lot of condor grey TTs sold in the future - you have been warned. He did see one silver and thought it looked as good as the condor grey.
He was really impressed with the BOSE - far superior to the version in the mark I. He also thought the seats were far better. In fact he's now saving up for a TT himself - the 3.2V6.
His words:
Just got back, had the opportunity to thrash the cars around the track. Can't describe how good the car handles. We also drove the merc slk and the bmw z4. The car is light years ahead of the opposition not just saying this because i work for audi, when you drive the car you will get my drift.
Also comfort, ride quality, drivability (how the car gives fair feedback, and the ESP only kicks in when really needed) and despite having only 200 horses, hitting 100km/h just an unnoticable-in-the-real-world half second slower than the Z4, which is putting out 265 horses
Hartes Fahrwerk, gute Kontrolle
