Ik heb ook nog een bod gedaan op een coupe. Nog nooit heb ik zo'n uitgebreide reactie ontvangen bij een advertentie.
Hi Mathieu,
I have taken some pics of the the scratches and dents that the car has, and will send them in the next couple of emails. I thought I would also write a little about the car, why we got it, etc.
Background
Two years ago, my gf needed a new car to commute to work. She wanted a Golf TDI. I almost panicked as I saw we was heading straight for the 'boring' life. After going through the entire mobile.de, I realized that the BMW Z3 Coupe was the car I wanted. I have always loved the car, ever since it came out. On mobile, I was very specific. I wanted black on black, with the aluminum dash and stick shift. (They also came with horrendous wood interior and automatic!!) And it had to be original. The previous owner, was a lady, and the only reason she sold this one, was due to the fact that she had bought a 3.0…. Her husband worked for BMW (in the M GmbH department) and drove a Z4M Coupe. Before that it was a leasing car for 9 months.
Condition
The car had been well looked after, which was easy to spot. Everything worked and everything is as it should be. Besides the black kidneys and white blinkers, the car is ORIGINAL. (My gf ridicules the car for having a cassette deck…) We have had the car for a little over two years. Everything still works. Windows, heated seats, A/C, etc. The exterior is, considering its age, in a good condition. The front bumper had had a bump or two, but nothing structural, only cosmetic. (This is a 13 year old car, so expect some wear…) The interior is like new. I have been in a number of newer cars that do not look half as good on the inside.
Drive
The drive, it is old school. Front engined, rear wheel drive (with 25% limited slip differential). When pushed, the front will understeer, but with some throttle that can turn into oversteer. Jermey Clarkson said handling wise it is 'perfection', and I agree with him.
The engine is also a jem. It pulls from 1,000 rpm up to 6,000rpm with ease. It is also strong enough to be cruising at 50 km/h in 5th gear at around 1,000 rpm. The sound could be more vocal, but when provoked it is there. But in summary, everything feels tight.
It has mostly been driven by my gf, but we have also taken it on several road trips. The boot is large enough to accommodate luggage for two people, even for week long trips. (Ok, you might have to play some Tetris, or leave the blow dryer at home…)
Repairs
Since we have had it, we have changed the brakes and water pump. I was going to change the lower wish bone, as the bushings are a little worn. No oil leakage!
Tyres
The tyres are fine for this season, but would probably need to be changed at the end of next. Winter tyres are OK.
Price
You said you were willing to pay EURO 9,000. To be honest, I was expecting a little more. However, as I have not come around to have the lower wishbone changed, I will agree.
Summary
I must admit, every time I see the car, I smile. Every time I drive the car, I smile. It will be missed. I cannot think of a cooler, more fun car in the EURO 10k price bracket. The reason for us selling it is that we are getting married (on Friday) and we need a bigger one with 4wd (skiing ,etc.)
If you want, we can have a Skype video chat and we can go over the car. Let me know.
Best regards,
Magnus
