dit soort Jensen vond ik vroeger en nog steeds ook best fraai, type 541
heeft ook de mercedes wings ala 190sl e.d. of heeft mercedes dat van Jensen?
What Jensen 541s might lack in pedigree, they more than make up for in character and under stressed, post vintage charm. Fast and long legged, they made an excellent and cheaper, alternative to an Aston Martin and the appeal hasn’t waned a bit for their many loving enthusiasts. The fiberglass 541 was announced in 1953, its aerodynamics body molded in three big sections and covering a new platform chassis. Suspension was from a modified Austin A70 with a live axle at the back. The familiar Austin 4 liter straight six engine was used, but for a lower bonnet line and added punch Jensen fitted triple SU carburetors. The result was a 25 percent leap in output to 117 bhp. A high compression head on the 1956 541 Deluxe took the power up yet again to around130bhp, however, the really big news was the brakes disc all around for the first time on the British production car. The R model of 1957 had the DS7 version of the Sheer line 4 liter engine with twin carburetors, power going up to a respectable 150 bhp. The wide bodied 541S took over in 1960, and the Austin engined Jensen made way for the new Chrysler V8 engined CV8 in 1963
It was a beautifully designed car in every way Great engineering was combined with elegant styling, impressive handling matched with very attractive interior specifications. If it had been produced by another marker, it wouldn’t just been Jensen owners and enthusiasts who leap deserved praise on this classic British car
