Rollcage for an E36

Bericht door JohnH » 06 okt 2009, 17:54

Hi.

I'm new to the site, but delighted to find an English language section to this forum. I'll be back!

I am building up an E36 325 as a trackday car (on a tight budget) and am fairly happy with reliability etc. It's time to start on the cage next. I was wondering if anyone had any good experiences with cages or fitters in the Netherlands and whether there were any sugestions?

I have looked at the Wiechers and the OMP cages, but still hunting around for some good prices. Are there others that you would recommend?

Thanks for the help all. Much appreciated.

Cheers
John

Hi John and welcome. If I'm right Bas Roos (http://www.basroos.nl" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) can supply you with a Wiechers rollcage. Usually he tends to keep a couple of cages on stock. The guy races 325i E36's himself and knows what he's talking about.

Ah, you might want to know he doesn't always pick up the phone (as all of these small companies). Anyways, you got a 1.8% chance he isn't at the shop, so you might as well have a chat with him there.

Hi, and welcome.

You also could try http://www.mdmmotorsport.nl" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, they are located near Amsterdam which might be a bit more convenient for you (assuming you are actually living in the Amsterdam area). I have no experience with them, so I have no idea about their prices/quality (!!) but I believe that one of the members of here has had his car prepared here as well, so you could inform about the price.

That said, Bas Roos is a good guy to go to as well (matter of the fact is that I am a sort-of-customer there as well), it's just that it's a bit of a drive from Amsterdam to get there. But for sure a good quality/price, and a nice friendly guy with LOADS of experience in fitting this type of stuff. Biggest drawback is that he can be difficult to reach from time to time because he's working on an engine/has greasy hands/is talking with a customer/etc. etc.. Just keep trying during daytime.

http://www.biesheuvel.nl/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; would be another possibility for you. Should be fairly easy to get in touch with them, they know how a phone works ;)

I have 3 cars in maintanance with them and they do also the race-support for us. These guys are specialized in BMW's and can build up whatever you want. They have a lot of experience and have build up several E36's. If you want I can get you in contact with the manager. Just let me know.

Cheers. Tristan

Don't know if he still does rollcages, but if you're building your E36 on a tiny budget, Eric Messink in Dinxperlo (eastern part of NL) can weld a cage very cheap. You can call him on 0651024167 (if the number is still correct). He used to do it for around 300 euros. Some cages he made look perfect, some don't if you are critical and have to be welded afterwards by someone else (will cost you 24 beers at least).

I've good experiences myself with http://www.Biesheuvel.nl" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (+-1000 - 1500 euro, ask for Gerwin Biesheuvel, he's the welder) and http://www.Wielhoven.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (but one of their masterpieces will probably cost more than the rest of your BMW).
