BMW 530i becomes the first locally produced car equipped with the world's innovative safety feature Active Steering. These new features offer customers improved choice and thus further broaden targeted customer groups. The new equipment applies to the BMW 530i, BMW 525i, and BMW 520i. There are now 6 models of the BMW 5 series available to customers.

The Shenyang plant was officially opened on May 20, 2004, which marks the completion of the phase I construction and sets a new milestone for BMW's development in China.
