ervaringen met Hankook Z214?

Bericht door Dickh. » 06 jun 2010, 10:13

Heeft er hier iemand ervaringen met de Hankook Z214? Ik begrijp dat ie een DOT heeft maar dat een "E" keur nog maar de vraag is. Ik heb die vraag dan ook zojuist richting Hankook gestuurd.

Hankook Z214 (C50 compound):
1) grip - greater than the R888 in the wet and in the dry. I believe they are pretty similar in this respect to the Hoosier R6 although I have not done a direct comparison.
2) sizes - the 225 rears are good but the 205/50 fronts are a bit too tall (3/10ths taller than the stock A048s). I'm getting rubbing in the middle front fender liners, particularly on the passenger side (the last track I went to with them ran CCW so that makes sense, but the CW track before that didn't rub as much on the driver's side).
3) wear and heat cycling - I haven't had them for very long so I'll withhold judgment on this and maybe edit my post later.
4) price - they were a great deal (see my post above), and because I've already won some contingency money from Hankook on them , they may end up being free tires to me.
Toyo R888
1) grip - My first day out I wasn't all that impressed, but I eventually got used to them and they were generating lap times pretty similar to my A048s (IIRC). I'm still tyring different pressures.
2) sizes - I went with the 195 fronts and 235 rears; balance seems good.
3) wear and heat cycling - I haven't had them for very long so I'll withhold judgement on this and maybe edit my post later. Resilience to heat cycling is the reason I bought the R888s though so I'm hoping they are better than the A048s in this respect.
4) price - I think they were somewhat cheaper than the A048s (in total less than $800 a set) but I didn't even bother to price those out this time.
I have been running the Hankook 214 C50 and C70 compounds on my S2000 in SCCA and they are great. On the S2000 (at 2970lb T3 weight) I can get 2 full weekends of competition on the C50s (3 if the track is good on tires such as Watkins Glen). On the elise or exige I would bet you could get 5 track days or more on them.

I wouldn't recommend them on the street because they pick up anything and everything with the sticky compound.

I also would recommend Frisby, they are very good to work with and know their stuff.

They are DOT legal, but no, I don't think you would want to drive them on the street. I see them in the same class as Khumo V710's and Hoosiers. The "tread pattern" certainly looks very similar to those.

But as I said, they come in the right sizes, and should be cheaper, so they might be worth looking at once they get here.
