As part of the celebration of its centenary, Morgan has unveiled the Aero SuperSports – effectively an open-top AeroMax coupe.
Much of the AeroMax’s technology is carried over for the convertible version. The SuperSports uses the same ‘superformed’ aluminium panels as the AeroMax, the same aluminium chassis (also used in the Aero 8 GT3 race car) and the same aluminium 4.8-litre BMW motor, which is available with a manual or automatic six-speed ‘box. No power figures have been released, but the German V8 generates 365bhp in the Aero 8 model.
The SuperSports uses neither soft-top nor the fashionable folding hard top roof, instead opting for a pair of removable aluminium roof panels, which can be stored in the boot.
Charles Morgan, Grandson of the founder said, ‘The Morgan Aero SuperSports is a luxurious flamboyant sports car which also remains true to Morgan's philosophy of lightweight minimalist simplicity. It is a celebration of our love of cars and the romance of travel and is a fitting model to announce during Morgan's Centenary year.’
A £25,000 deposit is required to secure a place on the waiting list, while the final price is expected to be £127,000.
